How did you first get involved in badminton?
When I was three my parents cut a racket down to size for me so I could have a go in-between their matches. I joined a junior club and started playing tournaments when I was seven years old.

What do you like most about badminton?
Winning! But seriously, I love badminton because it's such a fast sport. The shuttle can be smashed at 170mph which is faster than Andy Roddick's tennis serve! I also love the fact that badminton combines every aspect of sport: agility, speed, endurance, strength, concentration, flexibility, psychology and tactical awareness.

Are there any other sports you enjoy?
I love all sports! I play hockey and I love football and rugby too. I was also lucky enough to take part on the BBC programme Superstars which was a fantastic experience and I loved competing in all the different disciplines. Being part of the Olympics enabled me to watch a variety of other sports and I hope to watch more of my new friends compete in their sports.

Do you have a sporty family?
Yes I do! My mother used to play women's football for England and was in the women's World Cup in Mexico City. She was a centre forward so she scored all the goals! She has also run half marathons and played basketball, hockey, men's cricket, county veterans badminton and also cycles everywhere! My brother and sister are sporty too.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to get involved in badminton?
Join a good club. It's essential that you have a good coach and have lots of fun! Badminton is a great way to meet new friends, learn something new and get fit all at the same time.

How did you prepare for the Olympics?
It took well over two years to prepare for the Olympics. I played tournaments for a year to qualify and then for three weeks after that I did lots of training. This involved running, cycling, weight training, swimming, and practising on court so I was in the best physical shape possible for competition. It's all worth it when you can bring back a medal for Great Britain.
